Community

The Head Gardener’s community outreach is deep rooted in its history. Current owner and local philanthropist, Alison McRitchie, took over the business in 1988 and has grown it to become a household name in Inverness.

  • Recognised for its charity involvement, the Head Gardener works closely with the Highland Hospice, raising money and awareness through annual fundraisers, including the ever-popular Stylish of the North, Strictly Inverness events, and Highland Hearts of Gold, all of which have raised over £400,000 in the last four years.

  • Alison also fundraises for the Hospice by participating in cycling challenges all over the world, which she does alongside running the salon and volunteering at the Hospice every week. The ethos that Alison has instilled in the salon is reflected in the people who work there as well.

  • Our stylists not only assist with fundraising events but also volunteer at the Hospice, cutting and styling hair for those who are unable to come to the salon. The Head Gardener’s philosophy is making people feel good from the inside out, no matter age, gender, or circumstance – something we embrace wholeheartedly.
